Sunday Evening Reflections:

Good Morning, hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was excellent. Hope you enjoy my reflections below.

Reflections:

  • Friday evening our community group met and we have now started studying the sermon notes from the weekend before. So we had a great time working through the questions from Adam Workman’s great sermon on the Fear of God taken from different passages of the book of Proverbs. I am always encouraged with individuals bring resources to the group based on our study. That happened by two people Friday evening.
  • Saturday evening we did not attend the worship gatherings at LifePoint Church. We went to an engagement party for Jim and Rana. When I think of this non-LifePoint connection I am reminded of the passage in Acts 17. One reason why I think God brought us all the way to Maryland was to put us in Furnace Hills alongside others who He wanted us to get to know. That passage reads as follows: 26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. How do we know what will happen in this relationship. And to think we now have friends that live up and down the Eastern Seaboard as a result of this friendship with people who have lived next door to us here. Who is living next door to you? Are you active in their lives?
  • Sunday at LifePoint was awesome. Jason Fullen did a great job un-packing Proverbs 7 and speaking to the issue of sexual immorality. It was an excellent teaching time.
  • We are becoming more and more cosmopolitan at LifePoint. A woman came up to me after the last service. She and her husband are from Chili. She was in tears explaining the situation there. The words that haunted me were that winter is coming. So many are without shelter or warm clothing as winter approaches in the southern hemisphere. Her over-riding concern, though, was for the spiritual condition of Chili. She said this may be Chili’s moment. We need to pray for a spiritual awakening there now more than ever. Will you join us in praying for Chili? I loved the spiritual depth of this woman who was weeping for her country’s spiritual lostness. Let’s join her in prayer.

Have a GREAT week. Many blessings to you all.

Dave
