I have been intrigued by the concept of Idea Camp created by Charles Lee and others. Just in case you haven’t heard of it yet here’s a brief description put together by Charles as to just what the Idea Camp is all about:
The Idea Camp is a collaborative movement of idea-makers who facilitate free hybrid conferences and develop resources for people who desire to move ideas toward implementation. Facilitated by a growing collective of innovative thinkers and practitioners from numerous disciplines, participants gather around topics of interest to encourage and inspire one another, share practical wisdom from the field, and develop intentional networks for idea-making.
The next Idea Camp is going to be held August 28th & 29th in the Washington, DC area. What is exciting about this Idea Camp is that the focus is on Compassion and Justice. For those of us who attended the Willow Leadership Summit it’s going to be a great way to keep thinking about and coming up with ways we can put feet to what we heard there. Here’s the exciting thing about Idea Camp, it’s interactive. My early reading about Idea Camp came from Dawn Nicole Baldwin (a distant relative) on the concept that those of us who sit in the audience at most conferences have much to contribute, but never do. So this conference gives us all a chance to share and contribute to the ideas of the presenters.
My goal at this Camp is to find ways we at LifePoint Church can bring God’s compassion to those who are suffering and without justice in the world. If you live on the Eastern Seaboard, you need to attend the Camp next week (see logistics section below). Oh and I forgot! It’s FREE!! (conrtibutions accepted). Also some of the best minds in this area of ministry will be present. You can go to http://theideacamp.com to register and browse workshops, etc.
I hope to see you there! You’re not going to regret attending!
